Berhanu Beyene (PhD)

Dr. Berhanu Beyene is a Chief Executive officer of Emerald P.L.C and a distinguished IT Project Manager, International Consultant, Researcher, and Educator with over 30 years of experience across Europe, Africa, and the Middle East. He holds a Doctorate in Computer Science from Hamburg University, along with degrees in Computer Science and Economics from Addis Ababa University, and postgraduate diplomas in Higher Education and Project Management. Dr. Berhanu has led major projects, including a 30 Million Birr World Bank Water Utility Management Information System in Ethiopia. He has taught MSc/MA and PhD courses in Data Science, Cybersecurity, and IT Project Management at prestigious institutions in Germany, Hungary, and Ethiopia, and has supervised over 50 research theses. His contributions include developing the Blended E-Learning Policy for TVET and serving as an IT Consultant for organizations like GIZ, UNESCO, and the East African Law Society. He has also trained professionals in Digital Diplomacy, Servant Leadership, and Instructional Design. As the founder of the Africa Institute of Governance and Development, he has led leadership training across East Africa and spearheaded international collaborations in teaching and research. Dr. Berhanu is the founding President of the Ethiopian Cybersecurity Professional Association and has chaired the National E-Learning Advisory Council. Known for his proactive and innovative approach, Dr. Berhanu is committed to advancing IT, Education, and Development through sustainable networks and partnerships.
